Welcome to the new West Coast!  Welcome to a re-defined culture of West Coast hip-hop where young people grow up influenced not only by Snoop & Dre — but by Jay-Z, Kanye West, blink 182, Linkin Park, Cold Play and Pharrell as well. This is the new, diverse sound of the Los Angeles music scene. This is Y.R.F. (Young, Rich & Fly).  When emcee’s Neesin “Y.C.” Williams, & Craig “Blak P.” Kelley, met each other in high school, they knew instantly that they shared similar points of view.

Drawing inspiration from artists ranging from Marvin Gaye to Michael Jackson to Biggie, Y.R.F. combines their raw talent with their compelling written voice in an effort to carve new identity into the stereotypical “West Coast” hip-hop persona.  In 2007, and using this formula, the group quickly found themselves in the leading spot among the MySpace Top 50 Unsigned Bands, based on records co-produced by Los Angeles-based Drop Squad Entertainment. They’ve graced the stages of some of Los Angeles’ hottest spots from the House of Blues to the Key Club and have opened up for the likes of De La Soul to DJ Quik.

In 2009-2010 over they performed at over 40 schools in the Los Angeles County area and their music appeared on Networks such as Vh1+MTV + Bravo during the 2010/2011 seasons.  They came to the attention of Aaron, CEO MusicIsMyBusiness via Tommy Popps a film+Tv producer and he was immediately hooked.  “Their sound is refreshing and as artist they have new energy and the appreciation for musicianship.”
