Charles “Chizzy” Stephens
Music Director and Intergalactic Producer
Charles “Chizzy” Stephens has already been on MTV’s TRL and worked with Jive Artist Kentrell, Jimmy Burney, Michaela Shiloh, American Idol’s David Hernandez and platinum country artist/songwriter Jeffery Steel.
He began his musical journey at six-years-old when his parents bought him his first Yamaha keyboard. The Augusta native would continue his musical training learning to play the trumpet, but it was the sounds of Dr. Dre and Master P (No Limit Records) that would inspire Chizzy to focus on the keyboard and begin creating everything from.
In 2004 Chizzy would later create a rap group with three high school friends where he provided most of the production. Eventually he started lending his musical skills to other local groups and artists. Due to the buzz he was developing locally, he was contacted by Eminem’s Grammy Award Winning Producers: Luis Resto (Lose Yourself, Without Me), Urban Kris (8 Mile Soundtrack, The Eminem) and DJ Head (Devils Night, The Eminem Show). However, youth prevailed and this opportunity would prove to be overwhelming. But the experience was still encouraging as he realized he had the talent to make it.
Chizzy would move to Orlando, FL where he attended Full Sail University, majoring in Recording Arts and Entertainment Business. Chizzy would get opportunities to work alongside Poe Boy Entertainment, Slip N Slide’s (Plies, Rick Ross, Trick Daddy) Wes Fif, and Nycole Valentina. He and Nycole would develop a great chemistry and collaborate on her debut album, “We Need To Talk,” which landed her on MTV’s TRL in 2008.
After graduating, a chance meeting via Craig’s List, Chizzy would meet former Sean “Diddy” Combs mentee/assistant and music-executive newcomer Aaron Arnold, now CEO of MusicIsMyBusiness. “I brought Charles (Chizzy) on as an intern but after hearing his production…I had to change my focus with him as he was to talented to just be an intern,” said Arnold. Charles would not only become his first producer, but also serve as music director (or A&R) for the company.
“I’m glad to have a solid team and working with other talented individuals, in this industry you can’t do it alone, or you will fail”.
